The most recent email from the Poker Stars sent out to different media contained links to two ‘insider’ videos revealing some of the behind-the-scene information to the general public. Although these videos do not unveil any big company secrets or anything like that, they offer a different type of insight into the world of Poker Stars.
First of the two videos is a James Hartigan interview with Eric Hollreiser, Head of Corporate Communications at the PS Headquarters. Hollreiser shortly explained how Poker Stars have started as a startup company that grew very rapidly. Basically few people with the dream turned into global company employing 1,700 people worldwide.
Hollreiser also emphasized their focus on creating superior customer service that, combined with a great product, sets them apart from the competition. Although one could say that he would naturally sing praises to the company, even the biggest competitors probably have to admit that in these two areas Stars have simply went much further than anyone else.
Revealing some interesting info, he explained that apart from the headquarters in Isle of Man Stars have major offices across the globe that focus on marketing and customer support, which is available in 29 different languages.
Talking about the future, Hollreiser was confident that Poker Stars will retain its position at the forefront of the industry and will keep pushing the envelope to improve upon already more than solid foundation and expand further.
The other video focused on another important and interesting aspect, which is what happens with deposited funds and how they are being treated. Although this is one of the things that have been discussed and explained in great lengths when people first learned about whole Full Tilt debacle, it is always good to receive further reassurances.
In his talk to Donna Crellin, Director of Treasury, Hartigan once again confirmed that deposits are sent to bank accounts completely separate from the accounts company use for their operational costs. This is not one account where all the money is stored, but rather multiple accounts, which serves as a precautionary measure.
Mr. Crellin explained how she was very impressed when she had first joined the company with how players were very important and the biggest concern of the company.
Although these videos are primarily of promotional nature, aimed at increasing trust between the players and the company, we are not used to seeing these things from Poker Stars. Amaya has clearly adopted a different strategy, one which will give Poker Stars’ customers slightly better insight into how the company operates and what happens behind the scenes. Before this series, they have also produced a short video with sneak peek into the company’s headquarter, which focused more on the technical side of how things are done.
Even if it is just a marketing strategy, it is hard to say anything bad about the company that tries to bring some more transparency into often dodgy and shady world of online poker. And, apparently, they plan to continue the series, answering the questions players send in, so that’s worth giving a test ride. Overall, thumbs up Stars!
