Say what you will about rake increases and diminished rewards for loyal players at PokerStars in recent times, but the world's top online poker site still comes up with promos that could cost in excess of $1 million.

If you remember Super Bowl Sunday last month, PokerStars ran the 12th anniversary Sunday Million and offered a whopping $10 million GTD prizepool - with the normal buy-in of $215. Due to a number of factors that included football's biggest game of the year being played that day, a total of 43,975 entries resulted in an overlay of more than $1.2 million.

Many were shocked that PokerStars absorbed such a huge overlay.

Get ready for another shocker, because PokerStars will run the tournament again on April 22 under the same parameters of last month's edition - a $215 buy-in and $10 million guaranteed. And the winner is guaranteed a cool million as well.

Platinum Pass to a Lucky Latecomer

PokerStars is calling the event the Sunday Million 12th Anniversary Edition: Take 2 and it kicks off at 14:00 ET. There is an added bonus to the tournament that may just prompt enough players to enter to reach the $10,000,000 guarantee.

Players who register after the tournament has begun during the late registration period have a shot at winning a Platinum Pass worth $30,000. A number of late regs will be chosen at random and will be entered into an instant tournament with the winner set to receive a Platinum Pass.

That coveted Platinum Pass includes travel expenses, luxurious accommodations, and an entry into the PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship set for January 2019 in the Bahamas.

With such a valuable prize up for grabs, and no Super Bowl on the schedule until next February, I'm going to bet that Take 2 will reach the $10 million guarantee. Any takers?
