Professional poker player Bradley Ruben allegedly admitted to investigators that he had consumed a marijuana-laced edible shortly before crashing into a parked car, killing one person in the collision, Ruben then fleeing the scene and resisting arrest.

The 32-year old poker pro from Hernando, Florida, has been charged with ‘failure to remain at the scene of a crash involving death’ and ‘resisting an officer without violence’ according to press reports of his bailbond hearing.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officers explained that the incident occurred Wednesday morning on the I-95 northbound, Juan Pedro Garcia and his wife Aleshandra Favre having been involved in an earlier accident and awaiting a tow truck.

It is claimed that Ruben ‘crashed into the back of Favre's car and Garcia’, the fatally-injured man being rushed to North Broward Hospital, where he later died.

Ruben, according to prosecutors, then fled the scene of the crash – the tow truck driver claiming that Ruben ‘stayed at the scene for a few moments before he ran away’ – a Broward Sheriff's Office deputy finding him a quarter of a mile away sitting on a railing.

‘Ruben became irate and combative and was placed in handcuffs after a brief struggle’, according to the police report, which also stated that Ruben admitted to investigators that a marijuana-laced edible he had eaten shortly prior to the crash had “affected him”.

Ruben's attorney contested the $100,000 bond set for Ruben, arguing that it was "incredibly excessive" and Ruben’s actions were "not a typical fleeing case."

Ruben’s Twitter account describes him as a ‘professional poker player’ and ‘Real Estate Investor’, and according to his Hendon Mob listing he has $368,415 in live tournament cashes, the biggest being a 3rd spot worth $55,958 at last year’s WSOP in the $1500 Razz event 69.
