SPINS and Wins for Jaime Staples to Kick Off New Year

The year is only a few days old, but it has already been a busy one for partypoker Team Online pro Jaime Staples, a new episode of his SPINS Challenge mixed in with a third takedown of the Gladiator

The Canadian has built himself a large following with his poker streams, and recently has been mixing in a tricky SPINS challenge to his weekly output, trying to run up a roll on the 3-handed, short-stack quickfire format.

This week was episode 5 and Jaime started with a quick win, a $40 double-up after catching some sweet flops along the way.

The Challenge involves working his way up the stakes, a $20 SPINS win meaning he moves up to the $50 stakes. Two chances to grab a victory, which would move him on to the $100.

You can see for yourself how he got on in the video below…

If you’ve never tried SPINS before, they may seem rather random, the prizepool decided by a spin of the wheel with the chance to win 1000x your buy-in.

It’s a winner-takes-all format – although the jackpot prizes will see all three players hitting huge payouts.

With at least double your stake up for grabs, there is a level of strategy involved, even with the 25BB starting stack and the quick level changes.

‘Controlled aggression’ is the order of the day, but it’s not just a shove/fold approach that wins the day, as Jaime demonstrates in his own SPINS play.

Meanwhile, little brother Matty – the first signing for partypoker’s Team Online roster last year – was also celebrating a New Year of poker, taking down the $55 Bounty Hunter
