Support for PokerStars 6 Discontinued Soon

PokerStars announced today that support for the older version of their poker client, PokerStars 6, will be discontinued within a matter of days. After a year-long testing period for their latest upgrade, PokerStars 7, the company decided that it was time to fully focus their attention on the new version.
Those still using PokerStars 6 can upgrade to the latest version using the ‘Settings’ menu in the client. The upgrade will be globally applied with the next software update coming in the next few days and the option to revert to PokerStars 6 will no longer be available.
In an email sent out to players, PokerStars explained that the reason behind the decision is primarily on the fact that it wouldn't be prudent to develop two clients simultaneously. Thus, after a long testing period, full attention will be focused on the PokerStars 7 client.
In order to deliver the best poker software we have to focus on one client, and the best way to do this is to get everyone using the new software. We cannot efficiently keep simultaneous development going on two different software versions, as both clients would suffer. After more than one year of user testing, we feel that PokerStars7 is now ready to take over and deliver the best possible experience to our players, and we will focus all of our development effort on this platform."
As far as player notes, settings and preferences go, most of these will remain intact, but some of the preferences could require manual adjustments after the update. Player notes will remain completely intact.
As there are some who prefer the old ‘tab’ system of PokerStars, there will still be options available to customize the new version to look and feel much like the old one. However, the new ‘filter controls’ system integrated in PokerStars 7 is more powerful and much more flexible, so the company believes that once players get familiar with it, the majority will be pleased in making a transition from the old system.
Third party software, like different HUDs, hasn’t been tested by PokerStars, but since PokerStars 7 has now been around for a while, most major players on the market have already adjusted their software to ensure a smooth transition.
