The holidays are behind us, things are slowly getting back into their usual routine, and it is no different at the high stakes online poker tables. While things were somewhat quiet over the festive period, players are now returning to the virtual felt to battle it out for six and seven-figure pots.

To kick things off, Monday saw some action take place at the PokerStars PLO tables. It was ‘EireAbu’ who was running the show as he finished the day with a profit of nearly $238k, according to HighStakesDB. The biggest winner on PokerStars for 2014, ‘EireAbu’ had a somewhat rough start to 2015, but this win brings him back to black.

Most of ‘EireAbu’s’ winnings came from Norwegian pro Ola ‘Odd_Oddsen’ Amundsgaard, who dropped around $200k in under one hour of play against the (presumably) Dutch pro playing from Ireland.

The action continued on PokerStars on Tuesday as well, as Ben ‘Sauce123’ Sulsky took it to the 8-Game tables. Sulsky finished the day up $170.6k after outplaying the likes of ‘Trueteller,’ ‘EireAbu,’ ‘BiatchPeople’ and a few others.

However, ‘EireAbu’ was also able to hold his own and he finished the day up more than $144k. The majority of his winnings came from PLO and 2-7 Triple Draw games against ‘WRUUUUM’ and Alex ‘BiatchPeople’ Luneau.

A period of truce ensued, as no big confrontations took place until Friday. That’s when the action picked up once again, but this time both Full Tilt and PokerStars served as the battle grounds. Three players were able to book a six-figure profit exclusively from the $1k/$2k and $2k/$4k 2-7 TD games.

German pro ‘SanIker’ was the player topping the winners’ list, making a profit of $140,600. He was followed by Phil Ivey, who made $113k playing as ‘RaiseOnce’ on PokerStars. Rounding out the six-figure winners was ‘Trueteller,’ who added just short of $108k to his bankroll at the end of the day.

Finally, Saturday was marked by a player who made his very first appearance at the online high stakes tables. Playing under the alias ‘RugDoctor,’ a player who many believe to be David Williams (but some dispute) booked a profit of $339k. All of it came from the 2-7 Triple Draw games, with Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom serving as the principal donor.

EireAbu’ also continued his good run at the tables, booking another 6-figure day, adding $170.6k to his swelling bankroll. ‘EireAbu’ played the game he plays best, as he took on his opponents at the PokerStars PLO tables.

New Year, new beginnings

It was a good week for ‘EireAbu,’ who finished with a profit in excess of $600k for the past seven-day period. With that win, his lifetime winnings on PokerStars eclipsed the $3 million mark.

David ‘RugDoctor’ Williams made his debut at the high stakes, and it was a good one. He booked an overall profit of $317k on PokerStars and we hope to see more of him in the future.

Ben ‘Sauce123’ Sulsky had a profitable week to the tune of $154k, while ‘Trueteller’ added $140k to his bankroll.

Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom had a rough stretch over the past week that saw him leave almost $411k at the tables. The majority of his losses were the result of his encounter with ‘RugDoctor’ on Saturday.

Things did not go so well for Phil Ivey either, who booked around $200k in losses across the sites, playing as ‘Polarizing’ and ‘RaiseOnce.’

Gus Hansen dropped nearly $400k to start the year, but did not play any hands in the past seven days.

Hopefully, the action will pick up more in coming weeks, as there is nothing the railbirds enjoy more than a good game of nosebleeds with the huge swings and big winners (and losers) that accompany them.
