Weekly High Stakes Report: Phil Ivey Crushing, Isildur1 Returns
10 years ago

23 Dec
After a somewhat slow week, the past seven-day period picked up some speed as high stakes players made their way back to the nosebleeds. The story of the week was easily the return of Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, who had been away for some time due to other engagements, a lack of motivation, or completely different reasons (we are just guessing here).
The important thing is he is back and he started his Tuesday session with a bang, banking $148k in profit. But a match against Cort ‘thecorster’ Kibler-Melby saw the Swede drop nearly $100k, according to HighStakesDB.
However, Isildur1 was able to turn things around and actually finished the session to the good of around $19k. He further added to that number after beating ‘bbvisbadforme’ for another $25k while playing some more at the 2-7 TD tables. Blom was only warming up, as it turned out, since he then proceeded to crush ‘SanIker’ at different levels of Triple Draw, finally rounding his day to $148,000 in the black.
If Monday was an action day, it paled in comparison to Tuesday when three players crossed the $200k profit mark. Kyle ‘KPR16’ Ray topped the leaderboard, as he finished the day earning $292k. His profit came from FLO8 matches against Viktor Blom, who couldn’t hold on to his Monday winnings. In fact, ‘Isildur1’ dropped another $70k to ‘Carlooo13’ to completely decimate the profit that he started the day with.
Phil ‘Polarizing’ Ivey also had a big day, as HighStakesDB recorded his profit just shy of $254k. He sat down versus ‘Carloooo13,’ whose earlier winnings against Blom did not last long. Ivey proceeded to crush his opponent at the $2k/$4k FLO8 tables, up more than $430k at one point during the match.
The third big winner was ‘thecortster,’ whose profit amounted to $208k. He sat down against Alex ‘Alexonmoon’ Luneau at the 2-7 TD tables and the action clearly did not go the Frenchman’s way.
Ivey’s great run continued on Wednesday, although he substituted his usual play at Full Tilt for PokerStars. Ivey plays as ‘RaiseOnce’ there. He took to the tables against ‘RaulGonzales,’ 'Truteller,' ‘thecortster’ and others, emerging victorious with $135k profit to his name. However, not all of it ended the day in Ivey’s possession, as he dropped $56k over on Full Tilt to ‘Carlooo13.’
‘SanIker,’ ‘Alexonmoon’ and 'RaulGonzales' all posted a profit as well, although none entered six-figure territory. The German pro had the best day of the three, earning $97k, and actually finished the biggest winner of the day overall.
There were two six-figure winners on Thursday. While Phil Ivey continued to win, his wins blended across the midnight marks of different days, so his Thursday profit on the ‘RaiseOnce’ account amounted to $78k.
The two players who nailed six-figure winnings were ‘bbvisbadforme,’ who earned $104k, and Cort ‘thecortster’ Kibler-Melby, whose day ended just over $100k to the good.
As Friday came and went, it was Phil Ivey topping the leaderboard again. ‘Polarizing’ ended the day with $186k to his name. He added to his earlier profit in a six and a half hour long session of 2-7 Triple Draw, which also saw ‘Kagome Kagome’ take home $142.8k.
Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom was the last six-figure winner of the day, as he walked away from the tables $120k richer. The player lamenting a loss was ‘bbvisbadforme,’ who lost to Blom on the $300/$600 and $500/$1000 tables.
As already mentioned, it was a week filled with action, as games were running every single day. Saturday was a good day for the German pro ‘SanIker,’ who booked a profit of $212k. He found a customer in his fellow countryman, ‘Kagome Kagome,’ whom he played in a two-hour session at the $2k/$4k 2-7 TD tables.
Ike ‘luvtheWNBA’ Haxton was another big winner, grabbing $180k. Ike met Blom at the $200/$400 PLO CAP tables instead of their usual NLHE battleground and things went right for Haxton, who’s been picking up on his PLO skills.
The final day covered by this report is Sunday. Although there were no huge winners, ‘Carlooo13’ and ‘punting-peddler’ booked decent profits of $88k and $79k, respectively. They both made their money from playing Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom (although not at the same time) to make the Swede’s weekend quite an unpleasant experience. Also profiting on the day was ‘thecortster,’ who earned just shy of $60k.
Stack’em Up
Phil Ivey was once again back in force, crushing across multiple sites. Playing as ‘Polarizing’ on Full Tilt, he raked in a profit of $256k, while the profit for his suspected alter-ego ‘RaiseOnce’ on PokerStars amounted to $237k, bringing his total for the week just below $500k.
Ike ‘luvtheWNBA’ Haxton played for just one day, but he made it count by taking home $180k in profits, courtesy of Viktor Blom.
As for ‘Isildur1,’ his return to the nosebleeds did not go as he had hoped, as he ended up dropping right around $240k.
Things did not go well for team Germany either, as both ‘Kagome Kagome’ and ‘SanIker’ posted losses of $316k and $105k, respectively.
Finaly, Cort ‘thecortster’ Kibler-Melby made a profit of $150k on Full Tilt, but dropped some of it on PokerStars to end the week with around $82k to his name.
