Weekly Highstakes Report: Swingy Week for Isildur1, SanIker Loses Big

The last week was, sadly, a quiet one at the highstakes tables. However, one player who can never seemingly get enough of the adrenaline rush is Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, and where there is a lack of action, the Swede doesn’t mind creating some for himself.

This is exactly what happened on Tuesday, as Blom sat down at the nosebleeds heads-up tables awaiting some takers for the 2-7 and 8-game matches. Not surprisingly, some were more than willing to oblige.

The day started well for ‘Isildur1’ according to the HighStakes DB, as he was up about $290K after four hours of HU action against the German pros ‘SanIker’ and Sebastian ‘taktloss47’ Ruthenberg. However, as the session moved on, the duo started chasing back their losses. Ruthenberg was able to completely turn the tables on Blom during the last hour of the play and turn his $170K deficit into a $47K profit.

SanIker continued his battle with ‘Isildur1’ and their match lasted for nearly 7 hours as reported by the HighStakes DB. The German could not match the success of his fellow countryman and would leave Blom nearly $148K up.

Blom continued to wait for the opposition and found some in the name we all know well – ‘punting-peddler’. The Macau registered account took the Full Tilt Pro’s challenge at the 8-game tables and after a swingy session for both players, it was ‘punting-peddler’ walking away with the overall profit of nearly $93K according to the HighStakesDB.

Blom’s waiting game continued on Wednesday and this time found a taker in ‘Carlooo13’. The two took it to the $2k / $4k Limit Omaha tables and ‘Isildur1’ started off completely crushing his opponent and building the lead of $390K. However, as the session moved on, a series of good cards for ‘Carlooo13’ and seemingly irrational moves by ‘Isildur1’ saw him drop all of his profit and then some. According to HighStakes DB, five hours into the match, ‘Carlooo13’ quit $95.7K up.

At the same time while the Omaha breakdown was happening, Blom decided to sit ‘taktloss47’ at a $2k / $4k 2-7 TD table and not even two hours in, the match ended with Ruthenberg making just shy of $200K profit.

Finally, ‘Isildur1’ returned to the tables once again and his losses were moderate until he sat ‘Carlooo13’ once again at the FLO tables where the Swede proceeded to lose another $168K at the tables.

Blom is not the one to give up however and he was back at the tables yesterday (Monday), trying to recoup some of his losses. He sat the German player ‘SanIker’ once again and three hours in, the Swede was closing in on a $300K profit. However, as reported by the HighStakesDB, Blom went into a freefall during the last 15 minutes of the encounter and eventually decided to pull an uncharacteristic move – quit while ahead, taking $133K profit off the tables.

‘Isildur1’ returned to the tables once again during the day and dropped some of his profit back to ‘SanIker’, ending the day up $71K. the Russian pro Alexander ‘joiso’ Kostritsyn made a hefty profit on PokerStars, taking home $124.3K according to the HighStakes DB.

Short Recap

It was not a huge week for sure, at least not in terms of what we are used to seeing sometimes at the nosebleeds, but still a fun one – mostly thanks to Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, everlasting catalyst of the action. And how did Blom fare overall for the past seven days? The Swede did make a six figure profit of $182K which isn’t that bad at all, but pales in comparison to his overall losses of nearly $3.1 million.

‘Carlooo13’ had a good seven day stretch, mostly thanks to Blom and ended up taking $92.5K profit according to the HighStakes DB. Sebastian ‘taktloss47’ Ruthenberg also made a profit of $182K.

His fellow countryman ‘SanIker’ really had some rough times at the tables, as he managed to drop $542K. This takes the German’s lifetime graph back into the red zone once again.

Finally, HighStakes DB reports that the ‘punting-peddler’ made the profit just shy of $100K.
