The World Poker Tour may soon fully live up to its name after it recently announced an agreement with an online card and board game company Ourgame International.

The agreement will see Ourgame’s products and services licenced with the WPT throughout over a dozen countries in Southeast and Eastern Asia. Among the countries that are included in the deal are Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Korea, Nepal, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam.

That covers a population of just under two billion people, which could pay major dividends for the WPT if they are able to reach only a fraction of that audience through this deal.

By working with Ourgame to expand the WPT brand in Asia, we are assuring that the recent strong growth of the WPT in the region will continue for many years to come

Perhaps that is why WPT President Adam Pilska is happy with the deal. Mr Pilska explained that working with Ourgame will be an important step in assuring the WPT’s future expansion and success in the world of poker.

Mr Pilska’s sentiments were echoed by Ourgame CEO Frank Ng, who said that he is looking forward to working with the WPT in promoting the game throughout Asia.

We are very pleased to have found a great global partner in the World Poker Tour, as we start to expand from China to Asia,” he said. “We share a common vision of promoting poker as a genuine mind sport. Frank Ng, Ourgame CEO;

While there will not be any new live poker events as a part of the partnership, the deal will see some major WPT being livestreamed to the aforementioned countries. WPT-branded social online poker games are also set to be established in those countries as a part of the agreement with Ourgame.

The deal is a move in the right direction for the WPT, which is arguably the second largest name in the world of poker after the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Its deal with Ourgame ensures that WPT has a direct interaction with a large audience, most of whom have benefitted in the last decade as a result of rapidly growing economies throughout the most of Asia.
