WSOP Called Out for Hiding Ladies Event Final Table

Having got the Ladies’ Championship off to a good start, the WSOP then shanked their handling of it way off into the grass.

The error was initially honestly come by; it occured because the previous scheduled event, the $10k Razz overran the previous day, and the heads up match went into an unscheduled day 4. To be fair to the players and to the viewers they adjusted the streaming schedule, finished up the Razz and then moved on to the next event.

Unfortunately, this meant the Razz stream bumped the Ladies’ Championship Final Table. That’s a pain for most FTs, but the Ladies’ Championship is a great opportunity for the masculinist world of poker to put its best foot forward and celebrate, advertise itself to, and show appreciation for the women who play or would like to.

It might have been a nice gesture to have run the Razz earlier, or to have certainly have been a nice gesture to have delayed the Ladies’ FT until the Razz finished, so the full FT could be streamed.

Instead the WSOP compounded the problem, shoving the Ladies table off in an obscure corner of the Brasilia Room where the rail could barely get a look in. By the time the Razz finished the Ladies’ table was down to 7 players and there was a Twitter storm in full swing.

On top of this PokerCentral mislabelled the video as being part 2 of the Razz stream ensuring that those looking to watch the replay might never find it. It was a silly set of errors that could have been avoided with a little thought.

Still, congrats again to Jessica Dawley for taking it down.
