Hopefully you don’t believe absolutely everything you read online, but some recent tweets by people who should be in the know are hinting at a live PokerStars event in the US, scheduled to co-incide with the Main Event final table at the end of October!

Chris Moneymaker, a man without whom there may never have been a PokerStars at all if he hadn’t sparked a massive poker boom in 2003 with his WSOP Main Event victory, Tweeted:

It's been a long time since there was A LIVE @PokerStars tournament on US soil. October 29-November 6 sounds like a good time, doesn't it?

— Chris Moneymaker (@CMONEYMAKER) August 12, 2016

When questioned by one of his fans on the ‘announcement’ Moneymaker replied….

@ChancesCards@PokerStars There will be a live series in NJ on that date. More info will be released soon

Big Chris isn’t the only star of the game to be heard talking about the New Jersey live event, which is apparently scheduled for October 29th until November 6th at the Resorts Casino in New Jersey. Vanessa Selbst was also busy tweeting about her Halloween plans, writing…

Heading to Atlantic City for Halloween this year.Hoping to stumble upon a major live tourney while I'm there! Oct 29 - Nov 6... #savethedate

The man who started the exciting rumour, Lee Jones, should know – he works for PokerStars, and his original tweet had everyone talking about what would be a huge deal for the site.

A @PokerStars live event on American soil. @ResortsCasino. Oct. 29 - Nov 6. #somebodypinchmehttps://t.co/Vlx6Hh6lUN

PokerStars, only this year, got the go-ahead to operate in New Jersey, and may have to take a big hit if they want to follow suit in California – a $20million fine or a 5-year exclusion ban being the most likely options if they want to be part of the market.

My fellow scribe Bradley Chalupskirecently wrote about how well their re-entry into the US online market was doing, and it will be quite something to see ‘who and how many’ players a live event will attract.

Although there has been no official announcement yet, if the dates being mooted are correct, they will clash with the WSOP Main Event final table, scheduled early this year to avoid the US presidential elections.

As for the venue, the Resorts Casino Hotel is the partner for PokerStars online licence in the state, and the Atlantic City Cardroom is no stranger to big events – and hosted the Stars-sponsored Run it Up Resorts Rumble back in May of this year.

PokerTube will of course bring you more details as and when they are released, but for now it looks like a distinct possibility we’ll be seeing PokerStars at Halloween.
