The World Series of Poker is easily the biggest and longest existing poker festival in the world. Although it originated in the United States, the WSOP has expanded to Europe and Asia in recent years. According to the latest news, WSOP officials are now ready to take another step forward and take WSOP Circuit events on a global level.

WSOP Circuit Events are a series of tournaments that take place throughout the United States from late July to May of the following year, with a $1,000,000 guaranteed invitational event that awards a WSOP bracelet as the crown of the Circuit.

Circuit events on their own do not award players with bracelets but give winners gold rings instead. Each stop on the circuit offers twelve different events with different buy-ins, the biggest one being the $1,675 Main Event.

Each winner of the Main Event receives an invitation to the $1,000,000 guaranteed WSOP National Championship, together with the top 100 qualifiers and the Casino Champion of each stop. They are joined by some other players who qualify by landing in the top 100 of the WSOP World Rankings, but who have to pay a $10,000 buy-in to compete.

Up to this year, this was an all-American affair as all the events took place in casinos located in the States. Now, WSOP organizers have made deals with several casinos around the world to offer Circuit events to those living on different continents all together.

So far, three stops have been confirmed – Italy, Mexico and Morocco. Marrakesh in Morocco will feature the first of these events at the Casino Marrakesh Es Saadi during the second week of March. A total of eight ring awarding events will take place and the Main Event winner and Casino Champion will receive their entries to the 2016 International Casino Championship.

After Marrakesh, the focus will switch to Italy and the Casino Campione D’Italia. Although the date hasn’t been confirmed yet, the event should take place in September this year.

Finally, a Circuit event in Mexico is planned for 2016 at the Casino Jubilee de Monterrey, the first signature WSOP poker venue not located in the States.

There will be more details coming as numerous negotiations are currently underway with casinos all over the world. This move will help with spreading and reaffirming the WSOP brand around the globe and should also help the numbers for the World Series as every casino that joins the program will also be offering satellites to the Las Vegas and WSOP Europe events.
