ACR Extends Guarantee until November 8th

WPN network’s Americas Cardroom has extended its $5 million guaranteed promotion until November 8th, while at the same time making the tournaments more accessible by reducing the buy-ins from $500+40 to $250+20.

The revised program and reduced buy-in will also see the guarantees for each tournament cut from $1million to $500,000, but ACR have added an extra two events to make up for this reduction and ensure they fulfil their promise.

“We’ve heard from many players who have found our $500+40 Sunday tournament to be a little too expensive, particularly with the re-entry option,” stated Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris, continuing “So starting this Sunday, we’re making our $5 Million Guaranteed promotion more accessible to players by slashing the buy-in in half.”

On the reduction of each event to $500,000 Harris explained:

“While the guarantee will also be reduced from $1 Million to $500,000, we’re extending the big Sunday tournament offering through November 8th and delivering on our $5 Million Guaranteed promise.”

Harris hopes these changes will lead to more players feeling comfortable playing and re-entering, and that the final prize-pool may well end up eclipsing the guarantee. On social media networks, response to the revised plans have been mixed, although one commenter understood the logic behind the changes:

"Smart move by ACR changing it to 500k. Obv(iously) they hoped to hit the mark each time but seemed to come up short, they can’t keep taking 200k 140k hits and still pay everyone out so like a responsible site they obv decided it was in the best interest to reduce it to 500k, still largest major in US. So instead of complaining you should applaud. GL all."

The $500k Guaranteed events are indeed the “largest major in the US” online market, as Harris explained:

“The $500,000 Guarantee is the biggest Sunday online poker tournament available to US players. If successful, it could very well find its way onto the permanent schedule after November 8th.”

The revised tournaments begins this Sunday, October 18th at 5pm Eastern Time, with the following three Sundays now replacing the old schedule. ‘Players who were already registered for the October 18th Million Dollar Sunday have been deregistered and are invited to buy back into the new tournament’ according to the Americas Cardroom press release, and satellites are available on the site, plus Jackpot Poker tournaments from as little as $1 also provide a route into the Million Dollar Sunday.
