Phil Galfond Selling His Custom Duplex Apartment Slide

Grabbing a piece of poker memorabilia usually means buying up the occasional WSOP gold bracelets if your pockets are deep enough, but now poker fanatics have the chance to bid on the stainless steel slide which Phil Galfond used to make his way from the bedroom to the living room in double-quick time!

High-stakes supremo Galfond had the custom-built slide installed in his New York apartment when he bought the place for $3.2 million back in 2008, but when he sold up and moved the slide stayed behind – and now for $15,000 it can be yours!

Described as ‘an architectural, custom-made stainless steel slide’ which ‘could be installed as a pool slide, tree house, etc’, the chances are pretty high that Galfond thought the idea of sliding from bed to work was a great idea.

Of course there are many examples of the big money pros splashing out on grandiose and frankly extortionate additions to their homes, but this one is probably the coolest - and silliest - of them all.

Daniel Negreanu had a six-hole putting green with a bunker alongside installed in one of his homes as well as a $50,000 indoor swing analysis and course simulator, while Barry Greenstein had a huge indoor swimming pool in his, but Galfond’s slide probably didn’t help the property’s value, barely breaking even when he sold up four years later and moved to Vancouver in the wake of Black Friday.

The buyer at the time promised he’d let his friends use the slide and then donateit to a good home, but quite what became of that idea is unclear now that it’s up for grabs for $15K on Craigslist.

In any event, some of the regulars over on the 2+2 forum have an idea for it, with trup_qq posting ‘I'm gonna buy it and set it up in the Rio during WSOP. $10 to ride the slide and get some run good should be enough to turn a profit…’, while an ever-hopeful ‘tofurocks’ asked: ‘Can NVG (News, Views and Gossip) chip in to buy it? Maybe by sliding down it we will be elevated to the next stage of poker consciousness space odyssey style?’
