Turning pro in 2006, Ohio-born David Peters is a tournament specialist that has experience both live and online. He is best known for winning CardPlayer Magazine Player of the Year in 2016 after a tremendously successful year where he pipped tournament crusher Fedor Holz to the prize.

In the type of winning run that only comes about every few years, David Peters has been catching big scores and wins continually since 2015. Between the start of 2015 and up to August of 2017, Peters earned more than $10,000,000 in this period alone and more than doubled his overall live tournament earnings stretching back to 2006. This run included a win at the 2015 EPT Malta €10,000 High Roller event for $653,552, getting past such names as Charlie Carrel and Mike McDonald to take the prize. Less than four months later, he caught a seven-figure score for $1,505,000 at the Super High Roller Bowl in a notoriously competitive field containing a who’s who of tournament stars. To close out the year, he shipped the $25,000 Aria High Roller for $426,240 – beating 2015 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Mckeehan and poker veteran Erik Seidel for the win. Carrying his momentum from the previous year over to 2016, His first cash of the new year was for a casual $2,309,000 at the WPTN Super High Roller Series in the Philippines. Making three final tables at the PCA, a final table at the Aussie Millions and numerous more Aria High Roller cashes before the WSOP started, he won his first ever bracelet at the 47th World Series of Poker in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event. Cashing for $412,557, the bracelet was long overdue for a player of Peters’ ability. With eighteen more six-figure live tournament cashes between the bracelet win and September of 2017, the run that Peters is currently on will go down as one of the best in poker history.

If over $17,000,000 in live tournament earnings wasn’t enough already, Peters can add another $5,000,000 in online MTT winnings into the trophy case. Although focusing more of his time on the live circuit these days, he often makes appearances at the big online events and has won a good few of them. His biggest online score came in 2014 in the WCOOP #66 $1,050 event for $172,260. The greatest return on investment he’s ever made was in 2016, when he took down the $215 Sunday Million for $143,505.
