Kevin MacPhee

Born in Couer d’Alene, Idaho, Kevin “ImALuckSack” MacPhee in 1980, has managed to make quite a name for himself in the poker community. Before getting into poker, he was a serious player of Magic: The Gathering, card game, very similar to poker in many aspects. His first ventures into poker came about during 2003, after the Moneymaker boom, as he started playing in the home games with his friends. However, it took him some five years before he finally became the name known in the poker circles. As for his education, he did graduated from college with the degree in general studies, but the game of poker was much more appealing choice of career. His greatest poker accomplishments came from the online play. Best known under his aliases “ImaLuckSack” and “Wu_Wizard”, he managed to amass truly impressive $6 million and change in tournament cashes. The biggest score came from the 2011 WCOOP High Roller event, where he finished 3rd, taking home $235,000. His biggest live score arrived in 2010, after seizing the title in EPT Berlin Main Event together with the prize money of $1,356,000. He also final tabled the EPT San Remo Main Event, but finished 8th for nearly $66k, and came runner-up in the EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo High Roller to the tune of $185,000. His live winnings are in excess of $2.5 million. During the EPT Berlin he witnessed the robbery that took place in the casino. He says that although he was a little stressed just after it has happened, it made him even more famous after his eventual victory in the event. Apart from his poker success, Kevin MacPhee is well known to the poker community for his relationship with one of the most famous ladies of poker, Liv Boeree, and they soon came to be known as the poker power couple. The relationship came to an end in 2013, after about two years, and it was a topic of numerous forum discussions and speculations in the days that followed. It had quite an emotional impact on him, as it was apparent from his tweets at the time as well as the interviews he gave later on. Events of the Black Friday had quite an influence on MacPhee in terms of his professional and private life. Unable to keep playing from the US, he has been constantly on the road since, playing on the live tournament circuit. He says that this kind of living certainly takes its toll, as he hasn’t been able to settle in one place, and he cannot even start thinking about settling in the US, buying property or planning family there while the things remain the way they are now. If the poker ever becomes fully legal and regulated in the US though, he plans to go back to being an online grinder with much more stability in his life.
