A well-known figure on the English poker scene, born and bred Londoner Martins Adeniya found poker whilst studying at the University of Bath. Using his wages earned at his first month of an internship, Martins deposited some money online and began playing cash games. Before the work placement had finished, he went from playing $0.25 / $0.50 to $10 / $20 – a rapid rise up the stakes in a very short period of time. After getting a job as a trader after leaving university, he ditched the city lifestyle after struggling to simultaneously balance work life and poker.

Adeniya has been able to mix playing both cash games and tournaments – live and online. His biggest live tournament cash was in 2011, when he final-tabled the £5,000 EPT London Main Event for $134,964. In a very dynamic line-up that featured German youngster Benjamin Spindler and American poker success Steve O’ Dwyer, Martins unfortunately fell short of the seven-figure payday and had to settle for seventh. He also has greater than seventeen WSOP cashes including an in-the-money Main Event finish. Adeniya has narrowly missed out on a final-table seat on a couple of occasions. The closest he came was in 2010 when he finished ninth in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed event for $40,547.

His biggest cash to date took place in the online arena, when Martins finished third in an FTOPS Main Event on Full Tilt for $180,000. His accomplishments on this site saw him become a brand ambassador for the company in 2013.

Off the table, Adeniya has been known to throw down some impressive breakdancing moves since he used to do it a lot as a youngster.
