Originally from California, Salman Behbehani is better known by his online moniker ‘salfshb’. Finding poker in 2008, he has risen through the stakes playing primarily at PokerStars and has become known as one of the strongest tournament players in the world today. During 2016’s WCOOP, Salman made an incredibly deep run at the inaugural $102,000 Super High Roller event – the largest buy-in that has ever taken place online. The American got down to the final three players, battling against tournament crusher ‘bencb789’ and poker phenom Fedor ‘CrownUpGuy’ Holz. Though Behbehani was unable to close the show, he picked up a huge $560,000 for his efforts.

Some of his other biggest online scores include a Sunday Warm-Up win back in 2012, where salfshb pocketed $111,533 after cruising past 3,552 other players to claim the victory. He also final-tabled the Sunday Million a year prior, finishing fifth for $71,952. Although Salman’s online results are not all publicly available, it is safe to say that he has earned well over $2,000,000 playing MTTs on PokerStars.

In addition to these successes, Behbehani has an equally impressive live tournament record. He broke his personal record for most money won in a tournament when he finished runner-up in the 2011 €8,500 Partouche Poker Tour Main Event in Cannes for $818,799 – losing out to a deserved winner in Sam Trickett.

He has picked up five other six-figure scores in the live arena since then. A seemingly recurrent theme of Behbehani’s poker career, he fell just short of the gold at the WSOP when he came second in the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 6-Handed event. This time, $301,965 was his consolation prize. At the same series, he made his third WSOP final table at the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Shootout tournament – again missing out on the bracelet when he exited in eighth place.

In 2017, Salman made yet another play for the WSOP gold. It was the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop which was the setting on this occasion. Despite outlasting the likes of Igor Kurganov, former One Drop winner Daniel Colman and English prodigy Charlie Carrel, the American missed out on the top prize once more after busting in thirteenth for $216,999.

Behbehani’s career hasn’t been completely characterised by what-could-have-been moments though. He does have an EPT title, a PCA trophy and a PokerStars Championship win under his belt – so he has some souvenirs to go along with his $3,000,000+ in live tournament winnings.
