Scott ‘BigRiskky’ Clements

Scott Clements quickly has risen to become one of the more successful tournament players over the last fifteen years.

A former mortgage broker, Scott Clements quickly has risen to become one of the more successful tournament players over the last fifteen years. Hailing from Washington, he won his first ever WSOP bracelet less than eighteen months into his live poker career. This achievement came in the 2006 $3,000 Omaha Hi/Lo tournament, where Scott also won $301,175 for his victory and got past the likes of Phil Hellmuth to seize it. Making it back-to-back WSOP wins, Clements went on to claim his second bracelet the following year – this time in the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event for $194,206.

Before 2007 closed out, he went on to make his largest live cash to date – by winning a major WPT event. It came in the form of the C$10,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event at Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. Getting past such legends as Barry Greenstein to take the seven-figure prize that was in excess of $1,500,000, the win made for a pretty interesting backstory. Clements had actually won a WPT event at the same stop the previous year, after desperately purchasing a re-sold ticket at the door since the event was capped at 300 players. In addition to the $222,050 he ended up taking home for this tournament, he was also given a seat to the Championship Event the following year which he went on to win. In a nice butterfly-effect moment, the last-minute purchase of that C$2,500 tournament ticket in 2006 banked him more than $1,700,000 over the following 12 months – not a bad return on investment.

Now with 48 WSOP cashes and counting, Scott Clements has bagged over $7,550,000 in live tournament winnings between 2005 and 2017. Most impressively, this was all earned whilst he put volume in at the online tables and he became equally successful in this realm. Playing under the alias ‘BigRiskky’, Scott’s online results form a list that many MTT grinders could only dream of. He has had three huge online payouts in his career. The first of these came in 2007 when he won the Sunday Million for $190,886 – winning a prize that was 888x his initial $215 buy-in. In 2011, he won an FTOPS event on Full Tilt for $290,500, and more recently he shipped the 2014 SCOOP-09-H $1,050 Super Tuesday SE for $263,605. His online tournament winnings total more than $3,700,000 today.

As has become a trend in the poker community, Scott is really into his fitness and recently completed a Spartan Race event – you can check out some shots of him in action here.
