Also known by his online handles “mastrblastr” and “gunning4you”, Scott Seiver was born on April 14 1985 in Columbus, Ohio. Known as a cash game player and a heads up specialist, he managed to accumulate a significant number of big scores in live tournaments as well. He first came in contact with poker during his freshman year at the Brown University where he was studying Computer Science and Economics. The early success in these small-time games was enough to awake the passion for poker and he started looking for more opportunities to play. Together with Isaac Haxton he kept playing in the college games taking occasional trips to the casino as well. However, since studying took up a lot of his time, Seiver mostly improved his skills playing online poker whenever he could. During this entire time he kept following through on all of his studying assignments, never neglecting his education for the sake of poker. But the competitive drive was there and him and his friends would sometimes stay up all night playing $5 heads-up sit and goes just to measure their skills and improve their game. Not the one to give up on things, he managed to both successfully complete his studies and become a great poker player. An interesting fact that he sometimes mentions is that soon after he had learned poker, he started playing Magic: The Gathering. This is a card game that involves a lot of strategic planning and thinking, much like poker, and it only goes to show that a competitive mind never stops seeking new challenges. His first significant score came in 2006, when he came 19th for $16,500 during the WPT Legends of Poker Championship. This was just a step in right direction for him, leading up to his win in the 2008 World Series of Poker $5,000 event, banking over $750,000 as well as his first WSOP bracelet. During 2008 and 2009, his online winnings have also been tracked to over half a million. Seiver’s largest cash to date came in January of 2013, when he won PCA Super High Roller for $2 million. Other significant cashes include the first place in the WPT Five-Star Poker Classic in 2011 for over $1,600,000 as well as finishing runner up in the EPT Alpha 8 Main Event in London in 2013 for more than $800,000. His career tournament earnings amount to $9,000,000, which puts him in the 28th place on the All Time Money List and the 17th place for the US All Time Money List. With the track record of six wins, 28 final table finishes and one WSOP bracelet, Scott Seiver is certainly a force to be reckoned with in the poker world as he has many good years still ahead of him. The videos featuring his PCA Super High Roller win can be found in the Pokertube video archives so make sure to catch up on those if you have somehow missed them.
