They just keep coming folks! This week’s 3rd millionaire was made on PokerStars ‘Spin and Go’ Anniversary when ‘prophethicks’ took all of 7 minutes to turn his $5 into a cool million.
The Englishman joins the two lucky Brazilians – ‘ Samara Lúcio’ and ‘wrawras’ – who earlier this week also Spin&Go’-ed their way to millionaire status.
The latest PokerStars milllionaire was crowned on the 48th hand of his seven minute battle against ‘BARCA1CRIS’ from Romania and ‘snagon-nl’ from Holland.
‘Snagon.nl’ was first to go – $100,000 richer from his brief foray into the Spin&Go tables, which left the other two to fight it out for $1million, the loser also guaranteed a $100,000 payday.
‘Prophethicks’ moved all-in with A♠ 6♥ on a flop of J♦ 5♥ A♦, and was called by ‘BARCA1CRIS’ who held K♦ J♣. When the pair of Aces held-up, the Englishman became the 3rd millionaire of the week, and the 8th since PokerStars introduced their hugely popular format a year ago.
This time round, the millionaire-making tournament (# 1,358,762,929) was partially captured ‘live’ when Team PokerStars Pro Felix Schneiders recorded the finishing stagesit during his Twitch stream.
‘Prophethicks’ is evidently a big fan of the late, great comedian Bill Hicks – not only his name, but his avatar also paying homage to the US funnyman.
The earlier wins this week had been ‘long-drawn-out’ affairs compared to yesterday’s ‘blitz’. ‘Samara Lúcio’ had taken a full 21 minutes to turn her $5 into $1million on Wednesday, while fellow-Brazilian ‘wrawras’ needed 12 minutes to make his $1million having bought in for $100.
The Spin and Go format has seen other sites copy its successful introduction, but PokerSars version remains the most popular, with over $3billlion being handed over in prize-money since its inception.
Spin & Go’s are fast-paced, 3-Max Hyper Turbo tournaments which feature 500 chip starting stacks. Each tournament has a randomly drawn prize-pool (the ‘Spin’ part of the name) which will award between 2 and 3,000 times your buy-in.
The Anniversary promotion has obviously increased this ratio, and PokerStars “offer Spin & Go’s at seven different buy-in levels: $1, $3, $7, $15, $30, $60 and $100, and regardless of the buy-in players will start the tournament with 500 chips and play three minute levels.”
