No sooner had PokerStars announced their Anniversary Spin and Go $1million promotion, than Brazilian Samara LĂșcio taken down one of the top prizes with a 21- minute, 118 hand victory which cost her just $5.
For those not familiar with the 3-player super-quick version of the game, as soon as three players register the event starts â with the spin of a wheel determining the final prize-pool.
In LĂșcioâs case, her $5 entry saw the wheel spin to the magical $1,000,000 mark, meaning her 3-way table was in line for one of the biggest pay-outs in online poker, and a chance to join the five other millionaires made since the introduction of the hugely popular Spin and Go format one year ago.
Although other sites have introduced similar fast-and-exciting formats. PokerStars have seen a huge interest in their version, with a phenomenal $3 billion paid out since its inception.
The latest big win also saw $100,000 cashes for LĂșcioâs fellow competitors; Lithuaniaâs âAA_MaKnO_AAâ came second, with Russian âstruchalinaâ in third. The final hand saw LĂșcioâs A⊠J⣠dominate and hold up against the Qâ J⊠of the Lithuanian.
The Brazilian (Samara LĂșcio de Brita Goncalves to give her full title) has had a few minor cashes on the live Brazilian poker circuit, but this win could afford her the opportunity to play some of the bigger events world-wide.
When PokerStars announced their Anniversary Spin and Go celebration promotion at the start of the week, they said of the initial prize-fund wheel-spin:
We're not going to lie to you, it's the most exciting part of the game. It could be anything from double your buy-in up to the staggering 2,000,000 times your $0.50 buy-in (if you hit the million dollar prize).â
LĂșcio may not quite agree with this assessment now that she has taken down the $million, but for those who havenât tried the format yet, you can try your luck by checking out the Spin & Go anniversary page and if you do so before November 1st using the code âANNIVERSARYâ and topping up $10, youâll receive a Spin & Go ticket bundle worth $2.50 in total.
