Poker fans anxiously awaiting the release of the poker movie “Molly’s Game” will likely have to exercise patience as director Aaron Sorkin has canned the film’s editor.

Sorkin, an Oscar-winning screenwriter who has penned a number of popular films such as “A Few Good Men,” “The Social Network” and “Moneyball,” is making his directorial debut in “Molly’s Game.”

Breaking Up

The film editor role of “Molly’s Game” was previously assigned to David Rosenbloom, whose editing credits include “The Break-Up” and “Deep Impact.” No reason was given for Rosenbloom getting the pink slip from Sorkin, but creative differences is a common sore spot among Hollywood filmmakers who work together.

“Molly’s Game” is the story of Molly Bloom, the poker princess who hosted high stakes poker games for Hollywood celebrities and wealthy businessmen. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire were some of the players who frequented Bloom’s games that were sometimes held at swanky hotels.

Getting Busted the Best Career Move for Poker Princess

Bloom raked money from the pots of the cash games, a huge no-no in the eyes of law enforcement. She was eventually busted, sentenced to only probation, and wrote a book about her exploits.

That book – “Molly’s Game” – will come to life on the big screen and star Kevin Costner, Jessica Chastain, Michael Cera, and Idris Elba. Filming recently concluded, according to Page Six, but the editing process has not.

Sorkin treated attendees of the annual CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas last month to previously unseen footage of “Molly’s Game.” Rosenbloom was fired shortly after the showing.
