As everyone adapts to being locked in their homes 24/7 while the rozzers guard the supermarkets like the world’s lowest stakes dictatorship, we all have to find ways to pass the time.

Where many people have taken up baking, others have gone a little loopy. Jonathan Bales, for example, has decided to hurt himself for our amusement

And to give the punters something to bet on.

On Friday he was the only horse in an over / under race to 2,400 push-ups in 12 hours. That’s 3.33 pushups a minute for the length of a shift in an Amazon warehouse. There was over $1 Million in side bets on the line by close of play.

Jonathan Bales is best known as a self-declared fantasy sports guru who write and self-publishes the Fantasy [Insert Sport] For Smart People series of books. He hasn’t yet written a book about betting of calisthenic prop bets, but he is now qualified.

Bales managed to finish the beat the goal of 2,400 push-ups in 12 hours, and even did a few extra just to completely sure that no one would question his impressive achievement.

However, the real hero of the arm day extravaganza – which was live streamed–  was his young daughter, aka “pillow girl”, whose job it was to rush in and put a pillow on Bales’s legs when he rocked back to rest in a kneeling position, then to clear the pillow when he started up his workout again.

Everybody needs a pillow girl.
