It was yet another exciting week at the online high stakes tables, as action was going strong despite of a number of players spending their time in the United States for the World Series of Poker. The highlight of the past seven-day period was the biggest pot of 2015 on PokerStars, which went to Phil Ivey as HighStakesDB reported.
The hand in question took place on Saturday and the dubious honor of being the one who lost the biggest pot of the year went to 'OtB_RedBaron'. He fell victim to Ivey's nut straight draw that materialized on the turn, and on the river, all the money went in and Mr. Ivey raked in cool $296,000. Despite of that, 'RaiseOnce' finished the day with the profit of only $66k, as things did not go so well in other spots.
In fact, despite of losing that huge pot, 'OtB_RedBaron' managed to finish on top of the winners' list with the profit of $153,000. He was also the only six-figure winer for the day, as 'Johnthefast' finished $94k to the good, while 'KPR16' raked in just shy of $75k.
Sunday was a big day for 'WRUUUUM' who was able to rake in almost $161k after about nine hours of play at the PokerStars PLO tables. He held his own against the likes of 'Ilari FIN' and Ben 'Ben86' Tollerene and booked in a really solid day. Tollerene had nothing to complain about either, as he finished $80,000 to the good.
After a short break during Monday, the play heated up in the early hours of Tuesday once again and 'OtB_RedBaron' continued his hot streak. He finished the session on the uptick, raking in almost $250,000. Phil Ivey found himself on the wrong side of Baron's good run, dropping $231k.
There was another short break in the action after this but players reconvened at the virtual felt on Thursday. The action wasn't as crazy and there was only one six figure winner when it was all said and done, as Alex 'BiatchPeople' Luneau managed to rake in $101,000. Second on the leaderboard, Phil 'Polarizing' Ivey, finished with $49.5k.
Finally, in the Saturday action, it was Cort 'thecortster' Kibler-Melby leading the pack, as he ended with the profit of $115k. Kibler-Melby's benefactor was Phil 'RaiseOnce' Ivey, who has been having hard time getting an upper hand against 'thecortster'.
The bottom line
It was a truly big week for 'OtB_RedBaron' who finished his attempt at the high stakes tables with the profit in excess of half a million ($520,000). Alex 'BiatchPeople' Luneau had a good week as well, raking in the profit of $164k.
Despite of winning the biggest pot of 2015 on PokerStars, Phil 'RaiseOnce' Ivey still finished the week in a very deep hole, dropping a cool million across the sites, although only $20k came from Full Tilt tables.
Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom was unusually inactive and he only put in a few hours of play, dropping about $76,000 in the process.
