April 24 will be a big day for the Casino Royale located in Maho Bay, St. Maarten, as the first ever Card Player Poker Tour event to take place in this venue will kick off. The first tournament to get the ball rolling will be a $125 NLHE survivor event and the festivities will continue until May 3.
Zack Lawmaster, tournament director for the tour, expressed his excitement about addition of this new venue. Several different events are scheduled to take place, including the $340 Pot Limit Omaha, $340 PLO8 and the $3,500 High Roller.
The one to watch will be, of course, the $1,650 Main Event, which will take place April 30 – May 3 with $200,000 guarantee. Players start with 20,000 in chips with an option to add extra 10,000 for just $40. The days will feature 10 50-minute levels combined with 90-minute dinner break.
The CPPT is a live series started by the Card Player poker magazine publishers. Some of the events are organized in cooperation with Card Player Cruises and take place at some of the most exotic venues in the world.
Casino Royale should play a good host to this event as it provides 21,000 square feet of available space, with 21 different live gaming tables. Good venue, combined with an exotic location, should provide for an overall enjoyable experience for everybody involved.
Apart from poker, players and other guests will be able to enjoy many extracurricular activities, be it chilling by the pool or playing tennis or water sports. Selection of places to visit is also very rich, with numerous restaurants, bars and night clubs, so it should be an overall very eventful stop.
