The traditional New Year online festivities saw big winners in both tournament and cash game play, with Ben ‘Ben86’ Tollerene welcoming in 2018 with a $109,968 win on the PLO tables against another legend of the game, Timofey ‘Trueteller’ Kuznetsov – and Jennifer Tilly was getting in on the action even as many were nursing celebratory hangovers.

Not everyone was loving the New Year’s wishes sent by their favourite sites, however…

…but getting back to the big winners, let’s start with the nosebleed cash games where  Tollerene and Kuznetsov battled it out for a few hours on two tables at $100/200 PLO, ‘Ben86’ pulling ahead towards the end of a tough match when he won the following $90k pot, courtesy of Highstakesdb.com…

Happy New Year and a happy Tollerene as he took ‘Trueteller’ for close to $110k, way ahead of the other big winners bringing in the bells at the tables.

Among those who paid out as the bells rang in 2018 were Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, one of the most active with 11 sessions, but (for him) a small loss to end the year - $9,298 down over 718 hands, and a big chunk of his tournament earnings this festive season have been handed back as presents to his cash game rivals.

For online tournament play, there could be few to match the Twitch offerings of Jeff Gross, his eponymous stream continuing through the festive season…

Another of those who had an excellent 2017 and will be hoping that 2018 continues in the same vein was Jaime Staples, treating his fans to a two-part special as the year came to a close, with 3 final tables thrown in for good measure…

With JNandezPoker ‘Doing a Negreanu’ and dissecting his year’s play in the biggest cash games at 6-max and heads-up, there could be no cause for complaint for fans of the online game – a tasty treat available to celebrate with whatever your tastes.
