The Dusk Till Dawn casino in Nottingham have decided to do their bit for charity this winter by holding a ‘Sleep Out Till Dawn’ initiative to help raise money for a homeless and vulnerable adults centre which regularly sees between 50 and 100 people crossing their doorstep daily.

Led by famous poker pro Simon ‘Aces’ Trumper, the Dusk Till Dawn team will be spending 12 hours in the cold overnight from January 26th to support Emmanuel House, the casino crew hoping to raise £10,000 through their JustGiving page.

One of those who will be braving the wintry weather in Nottingham, Nicola Veitch, wrote on Facebook:

The DTD team will have the benefit of sleeping bags and tents to keep them warm in the casino car park, but know full well that many of Nottingham’s homeless do not have such luxuries – with Emmanuel House explaining that they see around 200 new visitors per year on average, winter being the toughest time of all.

The registered charity employs a variety of methods to help those in need, including ‘advice and advocacy around tenancies, benefits, mental health support, training and workshops, drug & alcohol support, a daily nurse and a core programme of social activities’.

So far £1470, some 13% of the total Dusk Till Dawn are aiming for, has been raised and their JustGiving page points out that ‘Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.’

UK resident taxpayers can also claim an extra £0.25 for every £1 donated through GIftAid and a charity auction has also been arranged to coincide with the sleepover, local businesses and sports clubs donating items to help raise funds.
