Gus Hansen Takes on the Poker All Stars in Bobby's Room
5 years ago06 Jun
While the World Series of Poker tournament action rages over at the Rio, Danish legend Gus Hansen seems perfectly content less than a mile away, comfortably esconced in Bobbyâs Room at the Bellagio playing cash games as some of the best in the world pop in and out to give him some actionâŚ
Hansenâs Instagram account has become legendary for his playboy antics away from the tables, and as an insider source of who and what happens when the big boys are in town, Hansen arriving last week and instantly warning his big-time rivals he was in town to playâŚ
A sight for sore eyes
Doyle Brunson, David Oppenheim, John âJohnny Worldâ Hennigan and Timofey âTruetellerâ Kuznetsov were first up among the âeight beautiful poker players waiting for me to arriveâ according to GusâŚ
âŚand Hansenâs feed also provided a good âwhoâs that?â game for his IG fans, not all the nosebleed money at the tables owned by instantly recognisable faces such as Doyle BrunsonâŚ
Nighttime pleasures
Whether it was jetlag finally kicking in or just the nocturnal habits of a lifelong poker player, Gus was out and about in the 2am darkness and heading back to Bobbyâs Room again this weekend, alleged Bitcoin multi-millionaire âAussieâ Matt Kirk in town, with Aaron âThe Bladeâ Katz in tow â good fodder for Gus youâd think, although the actual wins and losses donât often get revealedâŚ
The JunglemanâŚ
One man whose wins are almost always the talk of the poker world is Daniel âJunglemanâ Cates â one of Hansenâs old rivals from the incredible online nosebleeds a decade ago now and in Vegas for some $2k/4k highstakes actionâŚ
âŚand the Mountain Man
âŚand finally, or probably we should say simply most recently as Gus shows no signs of giving up his chair at Bobbyâs Room anytime soon, Jason Mercier made an appearance, his âCastawayâ look belying a happy father enjoying a night at the tablesâŚ
There may be bracelets aplenty being handied out across town, but thereâs something incredibly heart-warming about Gus and his Bobbyâs Room boys â a relaxed old-school love of poker, perhaps.
