The popular 2+2 forum has today outed a user account which has been defending the iPoker network against claims of using or allowing bots, claiming that:

"A preliminary review indicates that an iPoker staff member participated without honestly identifying themselves to other players participating in that discussion".

In a thread entitled ‘Bots on iPoker & Bet365 / Unfair AI advantage’ forum users have been discussing regular poster ‘Fishtankz’ claims that Bet365 and the iPoker network in general is infested with some kind of ‘artificial intelligence players’, more commonly known as ‘bots’.

Inside Job?

One poster in particular, however, has been busy pouring scorn on the idea – and 2+2 have now outed forum user ‘The_Mole’, stating that:

“The evidence that indicates that this person is a staff member who misled players is that the Twoplustwo account was registered and validated using an @ipoker.com email address”.

The forum mod ‘R*R’ then goes on to quote the three posts which the unimaginatively-named ‘The_Mole’ added to the debate, one which has been highlighted recently by Joe ‘Chicago Joey’ Ingram in a similar discussion about ACR allowing bots to play.

The first post stated:

“Absolute nonsense- house bots on iPoker are an urban myth. It's just unfortunate that the first Google search for iPoker bots turns up a site offering services to boost traffic- but they're not associated with the iPoker brand and never have been.”

Banned

The now-banned account added:

“IF an online site uses a bot (as has happened in the past in Blackjack and other house games) they have to be clearly labelled as such, or it's a breach of license terms. There's no advantage to running a house poker bot; no-one is going to risk their license for a few € in rake.”

Naturally, as 2+2 stated in their ‘outing’ of the account today:

"Twoplustwo allows many employees of various poker related businesses to participate in these discussion forums - they provide a useful perspective that benefits many players".

Such participation, of course, would be expected to be open and honest – and it appears that ‘The_Mole’ has been anything but, a second post denying the use of bots reading: “Not if the evidence being provided is mostly nonsensical. I've not seen any on here yet” and a third with the curious:

“Yup, pretty weird. It would be ridiculous to post statements like that, unless I somehow had inside information. Which I couldn't possibly have, obviously…”

The iPoker network has been contacted for comment on this matter but at the time of going to press have not yet responded.
