PokerStars have targeted the social poker scene once again, this time releasing a new version of their hugely popular ‘Jackpot Poker’ designed especially for Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire TV Stick devices.

Hot on the heels of their Mobile app of the same game, the global leaders in poker have specially designed a new interface to allow the Amazon platform to host both real and play money versions of the top poker brand.

Players using both Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick will be able to use their TVs to play ‘Jackpot Poker by PokerStars’ in an “easy and accessible way” according to today’s press release.

For those not familiar with these relatively new Amazon platforms, techforluddites.com explains them thus:

The Amazon Fire TV is a streaming media player, which means it takes content from the Internet and displays it on your TV,” adding that, “The Fire TV comes in two models: the Fire TV, which is a small box (like the Roku 3 and Apple TV) and the Fire TV Stick (like the Chromecast and Roku streaming stick).”

Elizabeth Kricfalusi goes on to explain that:

The two models work very similarly but obviously there are some differences
otherwise the stick wouldn’t be $50-60 cheaper now, would it?!”;

The PokerStars announcement cements their position as the tech innovators par excellence for the social poker fiend, and the new release features, of course, their immensely popular and successful Spin & Go format – as well as a host of other real money and play money variants.

We talked to our customers who told us that they wanted to enjoy Jackpot Poker by PokerStars on other media,” said Lloyd Melnick, PokerStars’ Director of Social Gaming, and added: “With the explosive growth of television apps, this was the perfect opportunity to give our players what they want.”

This is yet another step away from the traditional PokerStars diet of serious poker strategy games aimed at the more professional and educated player – and a move in the direction of catering for the recreational poker buff.

Recent moves by Amaya, the owners of PokerStars, have been met with widespread anger and dissention from the game’s loyal grinder and pro following – resulting in continued strikes aimed at reversing the changes. However, it seems as though Amaya have decided that recreational players will be their main focus, the latest offering bringing the game of poker into the TV rooms of millions of Amazon Fire owners.

As the largest online poker company, we feel it is important also to take a leadership position in the social poker space,” stated Melnick, adding that, “By being the first major poker app on Amazon Fire TV devices, we can help poker players around the world find a new way to enjoy their favourite sport.”

The social side of the game is pushed very heavily in these recent mobile and Amazon Fire releases, with ‘Jackpot Poker by PokerStars’ giving away up to 1 million free bonus chips every week. Players can also earn regular chip bonuses every few hours from multiple free chip giveaways when playing, and can also check out the Jackpot Poker Facebook Fan Page and follow Jackpot Poker on Twitter for more chip bonuses.

The app is now available for download in the Amazon Appstore for Android.
