He hadn't released any YouTube content in nine months, leaving Jake Cody's 12,000 subscribers wondering wtf was up with the sometimes mysterious poker pro.

Lost interest in vlogging? Another bout with depression? Living it up and busy with things that weren't too suitable to share with the world?

Those questions were all laid to rest when the Jakester finally emerged from being missing in action, explaining all to his followers and fans in a 14-minute video that contains absolutely no poker action whatsoever. Normally, the absence of poker content would prompt at least a couple commenters to post something negative, wondering why Cody would leave out what most tune in for in the first place.

But Jake's fans are a loyal bunch, the vast majority just happy to see him back. Most of the comments posted sounded similar to this one from 'Zeke Bones.'

"Dig your vlogs, just remember you don’t owe us anything. You’re giving us free content, we didn’t buy anything. Appreciate you telling us what happened."

Life Variance

What happened, as Cody dutifully explained, were the ups and downs of life that affect us all to varying degrees. A break-up with his girlfriend, compounded by the fact that the two have a daughter together, and made even more messy because the couple had purchased a home together.

That situation caused poker vlogging to be put on the back burner for the Team PokerStars Pro, which is perfectly understandable.

"I wasn't in a good place so it's super hard to make videos when you're in that kind of state of mind," Cody said. "Super hard to motivate yourself to do anything."

However, it now appears that Jake is back on track and ready to roll with the changes that life has dealt him. He's looking forward to a wonderful 2018 after the turbulence of last year has subsided.

His recently released video was actually over 30 minutes long, but Cody split it up into two episodes. The promise of Part 2 being released in a matter of days and containing plenty of poker action was music to the ears of his loyalists.

"Great to see you back Jake," posted 'ed killworth,' "it'll all be worth the wait I'm sure."
