Main Event runner-up Tony Miles took to Twitter today to respond to the comments and criticism he received for his post-match mini-meltdown after losing out to John Cynn in an 8-hour battle for the ultimate prize in poker…

One obvious troll was chief among those determined to cause mischief after Miles accused Cynn of slow-rolling him on the final hand, even as Cynn tried to explain he wasn’t…

…and others getting in on the finger-pointing act too…

…and the poker forums discussing the very same issue, one 2+2 poster writing:

"I was going to stay give Cynn maybe 30 seconds to make his call due to pressure and exhaustion, but 3+ minutes - really can't blame Miles for the slowroll complaint".

Miles’ contrition and humility in his Twitter response, where he apologises for the “brief moment of weakness” when he “lost his composure” has won over the majority of fans…

…although Miles ‘good guy’ image has also taken a blow after being caught “shit-talking” about Antonio Esfandiari in the commentary booth – unaware that the Magician could hear almost every word…

…with some unconvinced at his sincerity throughout…

On the whole, however, what is said or done in the heat of a gruelling, 10-day highly stressful, sporting situation for life-changing money can’t be the basis for a character assassination – but it’s up to Tony Miles to live his words and he’s made a good start today on Twitter.
