Main Event runner-up Tony Miles took to Twitter today to respond to the comments and criticism he received for his post-match mini-meltdown after losing out to John Cynn in an 8-hour battle for the ultimate prize in pokerâŠ
One obvious troll was chief among those determined to cause mischief after Miles accused Cynn of slow-rolling him on the final hand, even as Cynn tried to explain he wasnâtâŠ
âŠand others getting in on the finger-pointing act tooâŠ
âŠand the poker forums discussing the very same issue, one 2+2 poster writing:
"I was going to stay give Cynn maybe 30 seconds to make his call due to pressure and exhaustion, but 3+ minutes - really can't blame Miles for the slowroll complaint".
Milesâ contrition and humility in his Twitter response, where he apologises for the âbrief moment of weaknessâ when he âlost his composureâ has won over the majority of fansâŠ
âŠalthough Miles âgood guyâ image has also taken a blow after being caught âshit-talkingâ about Antonio Esfandiari in the commentary booth â unaware that the Magician could hear almost every wordâŠ
âŠwith some unconvinced at his sincerity throughoutâŠ
On the whole, however, what is said or done in the heat of a gruelling, 10-day highly stressful, sporting situation for life-changing money canât be the basis for a character assassination â but itâs up to Tony Miles to live his words and heâs made a good start today on Twitter.
