Maria Konnikova Delaying Book For More Poker

Maria Konnikova received a $5,000 advance ahead of writing her as yet unfinished book titled: The Biggest Bluff. She used that money to fund her book research which involved hooking up with poker pros like Erik Seidel, Isaac Haxton and Jason Koon who coached her in the ways of the baize.

Unfortunately for her publisher, that $5,000 span up and up, with a few tournament cashes and a $85k win in last year’s PCA Main Event she’s now got $203,560 on her Hendon Mob page. Since the PCA win also gets her entry to the PokerStars NLH Championship next year, so she’s gonna stay in the shark cage to maintain her edge until then at least.

“I should have had a first draft in long, long ago. I could never have predicted that I would ever be where I am now,” she said in a recent interview. “I started this project with absolutely zero background in it.”

Which isn’t completely true, with her background in sciencepsychology in particular – many of the skills of poker would have been rattling around in her Columbia educated brain. She’s written on Con Men and how to think like Sherlock Holmes so one expects her to be a little tasty in a chip fight.

The Biggest Bluff is now scheduled for a summer/fall 2019 release. But who knows what could happen between now and then.
