Poker pro Joe Salvaggio took to Twitter to reveal the terrifying gunpoint robbery that he endured in the Rio car park during the WSOP yesterdayâŚ
The Cleveland pro was left shaken after the incident â one of several that have apparently occurred during this summerâs Series, with former Main Event champ Greg Merson unhappy about the security situation.
Marcel Luske and Joe Hachem also chimed in with concerns after Salvaggio revealed that police were less than helpful â or hopeful â of finding the culpritâŚ
Salvaggio explained:
âThe cop literally said 'this isnât CSI' yet they said they have evidence of a person leaving Rio and getting into the car that he got out of." He added: âThe gun clip fell out when he was shoving it in my face. I canât see any possible way on earth they canât get him."
The WSOP have responded by tweeting out advice on their security arrangements for those who donât fancy wandering off the premises with bundles of cashâŚ
The number of responses to Salvaggioâs robbery tale, however, suggest that the WSOP may have to do a bit more than this to ensure player safety at the worldâs biggest poker event.
Vanessa Rousso was only one of many who shared their own tales of gunpoint theftsâŚ
âŚand most in the poker community will remember last yearâs horrendous shooting of Tom â3betpanda Steinbach, lucky to survive after a robbery gone wrong outside the Texas Card House.
