Hitting the high-hand bonus of $1000 would have made it a night to remember for Michael Haag anyway, but having to choke out a domestic abuser before collecting his payout – the incident caught on video – added some extra spice to his evening at the Venetian Casino in Vegas!

While waiting for his winnings, Haag happened to pass a table at which a couple were arguing, the unexpected escalation occurring right before his eyes as the man “cold-cocked” the female with a straight right full in the face.

Haag, an expert in the martial art of Ju Jitsu, responded immediately, performing a ‘human backpack’ rear naked choke on the attacker, eventually taking him to the ground and putting him ‘to sleep’, as seen in the video above.

Haag was in town to play in Jeff Boski’s $2/5 cash game, and the poker vlogger wasted no time in getting the full story from Haag, a man who has spent time in jail and was naturally a bit worried that his intervention would have repercussions.

His worries were unfounded, however, as security eventually dragged the warring couple out of the casino, Haag rewarded for his bravery with a fully-comped meal courtesy of the Venetian.

Haag’s life story is an interesting one to say the least, Boski previously interviewing him about his time spent in jail – where he learned how to play poker, the wins and losses accounted for in the form of ‘food, drink, work and debt’.

Now a reformed character, Haag has gone on to win $356,602 as a poker pro, his biggest cash being another Venetian take-down, a $55,018 scoop of the MSPT Deepstack Extravaganza $400 tournament back in 2014.
