Today sees the start of the ‘largest affiliate poker rake race in the World’ as PokerVIP’s ‘top 500’ kicks off a new and improved promotion for poker players.

Now offering up a staggering $50,000 in cash prizes, the PokerVIP race looks set to become twice the size of its nearest competitor – with the $10k increase being spread across the top positions while ‘still rewarding the more modest player’.

Rake race regulars will welcome the boost, with 500 positions being paid instead of the previous 350 as the poker industry leader looks to build upon a successful summer series.

September’s race, saw Ukraine’s skm19 topping the table and adding $3000 to his monthly ‘grindings’, whereas the actual ‘Ultimate Grinder’ Andrew Cooper has had to settle for a modest$600 in 10th spot. Cooper’s phenomenal run in the VIP rake competitions was recently covered in a PokerTube articlewhere he gives insight into what it takes to top the monthly rankings.

The race works by turning rake into points - $1 of rake = 10 VIP points - in the push to the top of the leaderboard, and with the $10k added it now looks like the top ten may all clear $1000 come the end of October. These winnings are on top of all other rakeback, poker bonuses and other income from VIP’s poker deals.

The boosted rake race – which is exclusive to PokerVIP players – covers 19 eligible rooms including the likes of iPoker, PartyPoker, Unibet and Microgaming and more information, including the current leaderboards, can be found here.
