Poker players who have been anxiously waiting for the launch of Phil Galfond's Run It Once poker site will have to exercise patience as the development process is taking longer than expected.

Galfond posted an update on his coaching and training site where he apologized for the delay, admitting that:

"The reality is that we aren't as far along as I said we would be."

Thepoker pro didn't provide any new estimated launch dates, a likely useless endeavor anyway considering all the preparation involved with designing a poker room from scratch.

Team Galfond

The "Ship It Holla Balla" crew member is currently located in Malta where his team is busily working on creating a poker site that will appeal to the masses - recs and regs and players somewhere in between. That team went through some restructuring late last year, which undoubtedly is part of the reason for missing the mark to launch by March 31, 2017.

It should be pointed out that Galfond's initial timeframe for opening the virtual doors of his poker room was merely an estimate. A project of such magnitude takes time to bring to fruition and it appears by posts and updates provided by Galfond, we will see no flops until the software is tops.

The RIO boss stated:

"As a player, I know just how important good software is, and I don't want us to launch until we get it right."

Bravo to Galfond for not being in a hurry to get the ball rolling. Top-notch software functioning is of utmost concern to players, ranking right up there with rake and safety of funds in terms of importance.

Support

In addition to announcing the launch delay, Galfond took the time to thank his many fans and followers for all the support shown to him with regard to his new poker room.

He posted:

"We can feel people rooting for us, and it means a lot."

A good number of players have become disenchanted with the current online poker options available. Higher rake, less rewards for better players, and the tables tilting in favor of the casual crowd have squeezed the profits of many.

The result has been feelings of distrust and anger from players, further damaging online poker's reputation. That rep has yet to fully recover from the damaging effects of Black Fridaysix years ago - and may never.

If the game can recover, it may take a new poker site created by a well-respected player who can somehow take into consideration the wants and desires of players of every skill level. Enter Phil Galfond and Run it Once Poker.

Let's Wait and See

Galfond and his team are committed to "providing a viable alternative in the online poker market with enough relevance to impact policy, across the industry, for the better."

An admirable goal, and a poker site that we can wait a few more months for - if that's what it takes.
