Ryan Tosoc Claims WPT Five Diamond WPC Main Event Title for $1,958,065

Chicago pro Ryan Tosoc had almost 2million reasons to be a happy man this week as he landed the WPT Five Diamond WPC Main Event title and $1,958,065 in a remarkable back-to-back final table double.
Last year saw Tosoc lose out on the trophy when he fell at the final hurdle, finishing second to James Romero after the duo had outlasted a field of 791 players, and this year saw a similarly huge field of 812 ā bumping the prizefund up to $7,876,400 for the $10K buy-in event.
Prior to the final table, Tosoc told reporters that the Bellagio was a place he felt comfortable at, saying: āI just run good here. I feel so confident playing here. It doesn't matter what I have in the hand, I just feel really locked in here," but he wasnāt the only one who was in buoyant mood as the stakes got to life-changing size ā almost $Ā¼ million guaranteed for the 6th place finisher.
Sean Perry, for example, had been telling all and sundry of his ādestinyā to win the event, day 4 seeing the pronouncement, āI just figure thereās no way I donāt win,ā just a few days after he turned 21 as the 5-day tournament kicked off.
It wasnāt to be for Perry though, son of well-known WSOP bracelet winner Ralph Perry, falling in 4th at the hands of Tosoc himself and leaving the trio of Tosoc, Foxen and del Vecchio ā the latter the only WPT Champions Club member to reach the final table.
Del Vecchio, however, also hit the rails when he couldnāt overcome Tosocās AQ and the heads-up battle for the title eventually came down to a gripping final handā¦
Tosoc had the Qā£ 10ā„ and was dominated by Foxenās Aā„ 10ā£

It looked as though Foxen would live to fight another hand at least, but as Tosoc revealed afterwards:
"The only time like I felt like I was going to win was when I was all in with queen-ten. I just felt that jack coming."

ā¦and Tosoc had gone one better than last year and landed the massive windfall and the title. He said afterwards:
"It feels unreal. I kind of feel like I'm in a dream right now."
His prize also included a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions, as well as a luxurious Hublot Big Bang Steel watch and a $5,000 membership to JetSmarter.
