Alongside appearing on True Geordie’s potentially finished podcast and frequenting red-carpet events, some of the world’s biggest celebrities occasionally enjoy a poker-playing session. Some play it casually online, while others have entered tournaments and even managed to take home a notable cash prize.

Poker is a great game to play, after all, making it entirely understandable that big-spending celebrities would eventually discover the benefits of playing one of the most iconic casino games ever. Texas Hold’em is certainly the most popular variation of poker, although the sheer amount of different poker offerings also appeals, such as live dealer bet on poker, a single-deck Texas Hold’em variant where an infinite number of players can play, with the aim being to form the highest 5-card poker combination. While the celebrities of this world enjoy these types of poker games, other popular variations include Omaha, Seven-card stud, and High Low Chicago.

For celebrities, the fact that they can come armed with huge bankrolls and take part in major poker events is mightily appealing. Some instantly recognizable faces have even gone on to become very proficient players. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some famous faces who play poker on a regular basis.

Ray Romano

The main man in “Everybody Loves Raymond”, Ray Romano has been seen frequenting a number of poker tables over the years. In fact, he has entered the World Series of Poker on a number of occasions, although he is yet to achieve a major win. Offering comedy and a friendly face during a poker-playing session, Ray Romano’s passion for the game is obvious. Hopefully, he’ll record a big win one day, although in a highly competitive field, nothing is guaranteed.

Jennifer Tilly

As well as nailing a number of acting roles, Jennifer Tilly has also made an impact playing poker. Having won over $1 million in live poker cashouts and having one WSOP bracelet to her name, Tilly is one of the most talented celebrity poker players around. You could argue Tilly has an advantage too, with her professional poker-playing boyfriend, Phil Laak, coaching her for a number of years. Given the numerous successes she has recorded, Jennifer Tilly certainly knows how to play poker.

Tobey Maguire

One of the biggest and most successful actors on the planet, Tobey Maguire enjoys escaping the trials and tribulations of acting life with a poker gaming session. A live and online poker player, Maguire has participated in a number of big events, alongside taking on his famous friends who play the game also, such as Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Matt Damon

The aforementioned Matt Damon is a passionate poker player who has appeared regularly at the World Series of Poker. Also starring in Rounders, one of the best casino gaming movies ever made, Damon evidently enjoys the game of poker, although he is yet to achieve any huge wins judging by his television appearances. In private, though, particularly when coming up against his friends, Tobey Maguire and Ben Affleck, he might’ve come out on top.

Shannon Elizabeth

Perhaps more famous for her appearances in American Pie than her poker-playing exploits, Shannon Elizabeth has played poker professionally since 2005. Taking part in the 2005 World Series of Poker, the actress hasn’t managed to win a tournament yet, but she is certainly dedicated to the game, registering around $200,000 in her poker career, according to reports.

Other celebrities who play poker on a regular basis include the likes of Jason Alexander, Ben Affleck, Neymar, Gerard Pique, Kevin Hart, Dan Bilzerian, Edward Norton, Willie Nelson, James Woods, Kevin Pollak, Jean Robert Bellande, and Nick Cassavetes.
