F ans are agogueabout the latest developments surrounding renowned poker player Vanessa Rousso and the Big Brother household. In a surprise turn of events, Rousso broke a tie vote and evicted Austin Matelson from the household.

With Big Brother winding down to the last few contestants, the alliances and rivalriesthat have been building all season are coming to a head. What is so shocking about Rousso’s vote to evict Austin is that the two were one of the very first alliances to form at the beginning of the season. They partnered up consistently and later helped form Sixth Sense, an alliance of 6 players of which a number are still up for the final contention.

Recapping what happened, we recall this past Sunday when Vanessa put Steve Moses and John McGuire up for eviction. Johnny Mac, used his Power of Veto to save John McGuire so Vanessa was forced to choose another nominee. In a smaller surprise, she put Austin Matelson up, giving the appearance that she and Liz Nolan would vote Steve out of the house. This was not the case as she secretly convinced John to vote for Austin. With Liz voting one way and John voting the other, thetiebreaking votefell to Vanessa who promptly voted out her long time ally.

“Blindsided” is the word most fans are using to describe the events of this most recent update. Matelson was completely shocked when the last vote was cast against him. You can see how comfortable he is as he sits in the hot seat barefoot with his hands crossed behind his head. His allies outweighhis enemies, he thinks he has nothing to worry about. Then Vanessa casts her vote and basically pulls the rug out from under him. One has to give Austin some credit for taking it in stride. He kisses Liz on his way out while Vanessa repeatedly apologizes.

As far as strategic moves, you have to respect Vanessa Rousso’s strategy and drive to win; she knows how to gambleand she knows how to play. There are no holds barred with $500,000 on the line. Voting around the internet has Vanessa pegged as the overwhelminglyexpected winner of the series. We’ll find out soon enough.
