The gunman who robbed and shot a popular poker player outside a Texas cardroom last week now has a price on his head - a $10,000 no questions asked reward being put up by billionaire poker amateur Bill Perkins for the shooters apprehension.

As reported by PokerTube last week, Tom ‘3BetPanda’ Steinbach was shot in the back as he left the Texas Card House In Austin with a friend, a robbery turning into an almost deadly shooting, although Tom survived the ‘potentially life-threatening injuries’.

Perkins’ offer of a reward is not the only help the poker community has come up with, a GoFundMe page looking to raise $25,000 to help the young card player who faces a fair amount of hospital time in recovery…

…and the Wynn Poker room also looking to do its bit by holding a charity rebuy tournament, with a chunk of the proceeds going to Tom as well…

A photo of Tom’s injuries – a 10inch slash of staples and stitches running from his bellybutton to his chest – appeared briefly on social media, and will be a lifelong reminder of an unlucky incident but a lucky escape for Tom.

The Texas Card House where the attack happened has promised to beef up its security following the shooting.
