WWE fans were treated to some poker action on a recent edition of WWE Raw when retired wrestling pro John "JBL" Layfield hosted a poker tournament.

While cards were being dealt at the JBL Invitational Poker Tournament, so to were the insults and one-upmanship that wrestling has been known for over the years. It may be gimmicky and staged, but it’s entertainment all the same, and a shtick that has a huge following.

That following includes some well-known poker pros such as Dan "Jungleman" Cates, who channeled his inner Randy “Macho Man” Savage at the 2022 WSOP while winning the $50K Poker Players Championship for the second year in a row.

While Jungleman may not have received an invite to JBL's poker tournament, plenty of WWE stars did. Baron Corbin, Akira Tozawa, Johnny Gargano, Dexter Lumis, Dominik Mysterio, the OC (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, Mia Yim, and Luke Gallows), and Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis) were all there.

Skirmishes, arguments and cheating accusations have to be expected when WWE wrestlers are in close proximity to each other and money is involved. The JBL Invitational Poker Tournament was no exception as the following video demonstrates:

JBL and his tag team partner Ron “Faarooq” Simmons, were often caught on camera playing poker during their heyday. Word is that more poker tournaments will find their way to WWE Raw programming, especially since JBL has returned to the WWE as the manager of Baron Corbin.
