Anthony Zinno has added to his 5 titles in 2015 by taking down the coveted CardPlayer Player of the Year accolade, leaving the opposition trailing in his wake.

The Rhode Island-born pro had led the field from early in the year, racking up final tables, titles, and the accompanying $millions across a range of events and formats.

His final point total of 6,632 saw him finish well-ahead of second placed Joe Kuether with Nick Petrangelo taking 3rd in the year-long points race.

When Zinno started the year by winning back-to-back WPT titles in Fallsview and LA, he sprinted off into the distance. The 34-year-old, who now lives in Boston, followed up by taking down the $25K high-roller at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star.

He then had a thunderous World Series of Poker, with 5 final tables and the biggest score of his life in the $25K PLO High-roller tournament, collecting a gold bracelet and $1,122,196.

This is certainly my best day as a poker pro!" exclaimed Zinno after his victory, adding "it was made even better by winning it in a game I love which is PLO and also against a very skilled final table.”

His 7th spot in the WSOP $111,111 One Drop high-roller also brought him a bagful of CardPlayer POY points, along with another $$565,864 to add to his phenomenal 2015 run.

“I’m obviously doing something right,” said Zinno, speaking to CardPlayer after winning his first WSOP bracelet. “I practiced and worked really hard, but my best advice to everyone out there is just to work hard and set goals. Have a dream and chase it. Life is short, so just keep going for it.”

His extraordinary performance – by July already topping last year’s winning total – overshadowed the amazing results of both Kuether and Petrangelo, whose totals would usually have been enough to lift the points title.

Both men closed the gap on Zinno considerably during the closing months of the year, but were ultimately unable to overcome the title-winners massive lead.

The top ten also included Steve O’Dwyer in 7th and Dzmitry Urbanovich in 10th place. WSOP Main Event champion Joe McKeehen ended in 11th place.

Previous winners of the CardPlayer Player of the Year title include Daniel Negreanu and TJ Cloutier (both twice) and Men ‘the Master’ Nguyen, who has recorded 4 victories since its inception.
