Despite being billed as a one-day event, it took considerably longer for German pro Martin Finger to close out on the massive 1st prize in the €25k High Roller event on the weekend.

It was the huge field of 152 players, and the subsequent marathon first day’s play, which saw the last three standing – Finger, along with fellow EPT main event winners Mark Teltscher and Liv Boeree – taking a two-day break from the final table.

When it resumed on Friday, Finger found himself being attacked from both sides as the shorter stacked duo cut into his chip lead, right up until he managed to take Boeree out with A-4 against her Q-10. The Team Pokerstars pro from England had to make do with a healthy €391,000 payday, leaving the German duo – now even-stacked - to battle it out for the title.

With Finger seemingly unwilling to make a deal, it didn’t take long before the pair clashed –Teltscher first forging ahead, before losing a huge all-in with king-queen against the pocket jacks of Finger. On the next hand it was all over; Teltscher shoved with J9 but couldn’t improve against Finger’s small ace and it was all over.

Finger now adds the High Roller title to his Main Event (Prague in season 8) and Super High Roller (London in season 10) wins to achieve a spectacular hat-trick.
