Sometimes you don’t have to play poker. Sometimes you just want to ramble around a beautiful city, trying out happy hours at three in the afternoon and bumping into old friends. Which is pretty much what Andrew Neeme’s recent vlog about his New Orleans trip looks like.

With the drone out of action, either due to poor packing in transit or ‘inappropriate touching’ from saboteurs as yet unidentified, Neeme takes the camera for a walk through the stories streets of New Orleans’, passing through from what look like old West facade’s into trendy cocktail bars and sawdust restaurants with taco shells. The result is a mildly drunk flâneur’s tour of a great poker city, great riverboat layover through which so many hustlers have passed – not for nothing is the Cincinnati Kid set in New Orleans.

Prepare for some instagrammable food (including tacos, of course) and some very photogenic drinks, as well as gradually increased camera wobble, the occasional slurred line and a little barfly introspection. All in all though, he manages to avoid becoming the train wreck I think we all hoped for from the minute we saw ‘bars’ in the video title.

It’s nice to see vlogs which get away from the table every now and again, not that Neem can ever fully escape poker. The drunken interrogation of his friend’s degeneracy takes up a segment of the video, and in the final act, far too drunk for optimum play, he just can’t resist playing a few hands at the local casino.

I guess you can take the poker-player out of Vegas...
