The Boston-born Darren Elias is a professional tournament player that is best-known for his WPT achievements. In 2017, he tied a record after he won his third WPT Main Event title by taking down the C$5,000 No Limit Hold'em tournament in Niagara Falls for $326,776. His two prior wins both came three years earlier in 2014, when he began this WPT run after winning the $3,500 No Limit Hold'em Borgata Championship Re-Entry for $843,744. He closed out the year with back-to-back WPT titles by winning the $3,5000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event in St. Maarten for $127,680. This impressive WPT record places him alongside the likes of Carlos Mortensen and Gus Hansen – other players that share this triple WPT main event winner status.

Winning these three events along with making four other final tables in WPT tournaments has seen Elias bag himself more than $2,100,000 from this series alone. Despite all of this success, he has still not been able to get his hands on a WSOP bracelet – something which is no doubt an aim of his. He came extremely close on two separate occasions in 2017. The first of these was when he finished third in the 2017 $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship for $110,944. In a relatively small field packed with tough competition, Elias's ability to run deep in non-standard poker games proves his aptitude for strategic thinking in general. His second near-win was in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em event – Darren got past 1,950 entrants to make the final table but ended up busting in sixth-place for $77,047. Having made two other WSOP final tables and more than 23 cashes to date, it seems like it's just a matter of time before Elias does finally clinch a title.

In addition to his $4,700,000+ in live tournament earnings, Darren has continued to achieve success in the online MTT world. Racking up more than $3,800,000 including over $2,600,000 on PokerStars alone, he has won multiple WCOOP titles and other majors. The largest of these was in 2012, when he shipped the WCOOP-22 $10,300 NLH High Roller for $574,695. He got past a field of online crushers that included Leo 'ISILDRooN' Nordin and Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar to seize the title.
