Antonio Esfandiari Beats Comedian Kevin Hart in Boxing Match1 year ago
It was magic against comedy in the boxing ring as Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari triumphed over funnyman Kevin Hart, beating long odds to notch a victory far removed from any poker table.
Hart reportedly gave Antonio 35-1 odds in their three rounds of three minutes each, banking on his experience in the boxing ring. That experience was apparently no match for the determination of Esfandiari, who trained long and hard for the showdown.
The venue was a gym in California last Saturday, the 39-year-old Hart going up against a 40-year-old Antonio. While their ages are nearly identical, their physical statures are anything but. Hart is a rather short 5 '4, while Esfandiari steps in as a 6-footer.
It was that height and reach advantage that enabled Antonio to win a decision after three rounds of action. Hart was gracious in defeat, eschewing any of his epic one-liners while congratulating The Magician on his victory via Instagram.
Actually, it was Esfandiari who was letting loose with the jokes before the match took place. Antonio was half-expecting "to break his ribs or nose” in the contest, citing Hart's experience and athleticism.
But similar to a game of poker where any player can win on any given day, Esfandiari pulled off the upset. It's not known how much the pair wagered, but both are millionaires several times over, so the money wasn't really a factor.
More important were bragging rights and egos, Hart getting his ego bruised in the process. He's pining for a rematch, so let's see if the Magic Man is up for the challenge once again.
