Daniel Negreanu Names His Top 10 Poker Legends

What do you do when you want people to say nice things about you? Produce a list of your top 10 legends of the game and leave your own name out, of course! Well, that’s one reason Daniel Negreanu may have had when he named Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar and the rest of his favourites – with one or two slightly surprising names among them.

Well, nothing too unusual in that list – except for the omission of Kid Poker himself of course, as his fan club was quick to point out…

…and inevitably there were ‘what about such-and-such?’ comments, the man who helped spark the modern poker boom with his 2003 Main Event win cropping up once or twice…

…and England’s ‘legendary Devilfish’ getting a vote too…

…while some were looking for Negreanu to rise to the bait when they tweeted…

…events of this week cementing Ferguson’s place in top 10 anti-heroes of the poker world, and almost certainly very high up the list in Negreanu’s book at least.

The perhaps younger generation of Negreanu’s fans struggled with the list at times, one of the most famous of all poker players not ringing a bell for one poster…

…and the lack of females was picked up on too…

While some thought Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan should be replaced with Negreanu instead…

We all have our own idea of poker legends, but it’s hard to argue with Negreanu’s list – but of course people will anyway!
