Doyle Brunson Returns to Twitter

A week is a long time in politics said British Prime Minister Harold Wilson back in the 1960’s and for Doyle Brunson it was too long – his self-enforced Twitter break on the back of gun control spats lasting a mere 6 days before he bounced back to discuss pancakes and the US-Iran nuclear deal!

The 84-year old granddaddy of poker, who was around when Wilson spoke his oft-quoted words, had seemingly had enough of the Twittersphere after being taken to task for his views on the Second Amendment constitutional right to bear arms - naturally much in discussion in the wake of the Vegas mass shooting tragedy earlier this month.

Enough was enough for Brunson, who tweeted…

…but as one of the most prolific poker tweeters, he couldn’t keep away for long, back this week to share his breakfast news…

…and it was very shortly followed by Brunson plunging back into the political sphere, Nolan Dalla’s ‘diplomacy’ approach to the Iranian nuclear ‘threat’ not meeting with Doyle’s approval…

…the elder statesman of the game seemingly unmoved by Dalla’s arguments about diplomacy and discussion…

…and finding himself at the sharp end of yet another Twitter battle, even his fans finding his views somewhat short-sighted…

…and Nolan Dalla, who was much in the poker news himself last year, though mostly in a very negative way, was also quick to jump on those who did support Brunson’s views…

Inbetween the to and fro with Dalla and the Iran question, Brunson also found time to discuss a litany of subjects, including old ‘Western’ movies, Veganism, Las Vegas back in the day and his religious beliefs, before realising that the political fighting was more trouble than it was worth…

How long before the poker legend pulls the plug on Twitter yet again? Hard to say, if he’s proven right about his views on Iran then none of us will have to worry much anyway!
